Tango FIRE4000 Setup Guide
Learn how to set up, mount, pair, zero, and use the Tango FIRE4000 Weapon-Mounted Laser Range Finder with AB Quantum, Applied Ballistics, and your long-range rifle setup.
FIRE4000 First Use Tutorial
This guide is based on the official Tango FIRE4000 first-use tutorial. It walks through the key setup steps for new owners, including what comes in the box, device controls, mounting, AB Quantum pairing, laser zeroing, and recommended use in the field.
Before using your FIRE4000, download the AB Quantum app on your phone. AB Quantum is available for both iOS and Android and is used to pair with the FIRE4000 and load your active ballistic profile.
Setup
Unbox the unit, install a CR123 lithium battery, review the button interface, and prepare the FIRE4000 for mounting.
Pairing
Connect the FIRE4000 to AB Quantum, enter the pairing code, and activate the correct ballistic profile.
Zeroing
Use the visible laser, reflective target sticker, and adjustment wrench to align and confirm your laser zero.
Download AB Quantum
Download AB Quantum before pairing your FIRE4000. The app allows you to connect your FIRE4000, manage ballistic profiles, synchronize environmental data, and activate the profile that will be used in the field.

FIRE4000 Controls and Button Interface
The FIRE4000 uses a five-button interface designed to keep operation simple. The unit includes an OLED display, multi-button pad, battery compartment, wire connection interface, visible laser adjustments for zeroing, secure rail mount, visible laser, and laser emitter and receiver.
Power Button
Press and hold to power the unit on or off. Press once while powered on to measure distance to your target.
Sun Button
Activates the visible laser used during the laser zeroing process.
T Button
Adjusts standby time with a short press and toggles vibration feedback with a longer press.
D Button
Cycles screen brightness with a short press and adjusts display direction with a longer press.
M Button
Switches between meters and yards and toggles between ABI mode and AB mode.
ABI Mode
ABI mode uses the internal ballistic solver and is recommended for optimal performance.
FIRE4000 Specifications
The Tango FIRE4000 is powered by the Applied Ballistics ballistic engine and is designed for demanding long-range environments. It weighs approximately 420 grams, or 14.8 ounces, and measures approximately 4.3 inches long, 2.95 inches wide, and 1.85 inches high.
Range Performance
Up to 4,000 yards on highly reflective targets, up to 2,000 yards on urban structures, and around 1,500 yards on less reflective targets like trees.
Weather Rating
IP67 waterproof and dustproof rating, including submersion in 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes.
Laser Details
Visible laser operates at 635 nm as a Class 2 laser for zeroing. The primary ranging laser is a 905 nm Class 1 laser.
How to Install the FIRE4000
Position the FIRE4000 on your rail
Place the FIRE4000 forward enough to allow comfortable manipulation of your elevation turret without obstruction.
Seat the recoil lug
Push the unit forward so the recoil lug mates securely with the corresponding slot on your rail. This helps maintain zero and stability during use.
Torque the mounting screws
Torque the mounting screws to 45 in-lb for a secure fit without overtightening.
Install the wire control switch
Line up the red pins on the FIRE4000 and wire control switch connector, then mount the control button where it is convenient and accessible for your shooting style.
Pairing the FIRE4000 With AB Quantum
Pairing with AB Quantum allows you to upload your ballistic profile to the FIRE4000. Power on the unit, ensure it is set to ABI mode, then open AB Quantum and navigate to the pairing or device connection section.
The app will ask for a pairing code, which appears on the FIRE4000 screen. Once connected, select the desired ballistic profile within AB Quantum to activate it on your FIRE4000.
Important: The FIRE4000 stores one active profile at a time. The profile activated in AB Quantum is the ballistic data your FIRE4000 will use in the field.
Always confirm you selected the correct profile for your rifle and ammunition before heading into training, competition, or field use. Once connected, environmental data programmed in AB Quantum will synchronize with the FIRE4000 and update as changes are made within the app.
How to Zero the FIRE4000 Visible Laser
Measure optic-to-laser height
Measure the distance between the center of your optic and the visible red laser.
Mark your target
Mark the corresponding height on your target paper and attach a circular reflective sticker at that point.
Rough zero at 25 yards
Align your laser at 25 yards to establish a rough zero and get on paper quickly.
Refine at 100 yards
With your rifle already established at a 100-yard zero, use the adjustment wrench to align the visible laser with the center of the reflective sticker.
Confirm at 400 yards or farther
Confirm laser alignment at least 400 yards when possible. This helps minimize angular deviation and supports a more precise laser zero.
Using the FIRE4000 in the Field
To use the FIRE4000, identify your target and press the power button to measure distance. The unit provides ballistic hold information that can be applied based on your preferred shooting workflow.
For faster engagements, the tutorial recommends holding over in your reticle while using ABI mode. For more precise shots, dialing your scope may be preferred. After making scope adjustments, bring your scope back to its original zero to maintain accurate readings from your FIRE4000.
